PIKE Set to Re-Colonize

Via Press Release

The Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity, or PIKE, in cooperation with Hampden-Sydney College, will be colonizing January 28th through February 25th.  Expansion Consultants Tyler Keylon and Samuel Lewis will be on campus to coordinate the project.  We are excited to have the opportunity to come back to Hampden-Sydney, and we are looking forward to working hard to become a highly successful organization both on campus and in the community.  Hampden-Sydney has a proud Greek system, and we believe that this is exactly the kind of place where PIKE needs to be.  We would like to thank Dean Klein, Dean of Students Affairs, The Interfraternity Council (IFC), and everyone at Hampden-Sydney College who made it possible for PIKE to be here.

Pi Kappa Alpha was founded at the University of Virginia in 1868.  Since then we have grown to over 225 chapters and colonies and proudly boast the largest average chapter size of any national or international fraternity.  Among the most influential fraternities in North America today, Pi Kappa Alpha’s most recent successes include colonization’s at the University of Iowa, Texas Tech, and the University of Florida.  This year, we are proud to be expanding to Arizona State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, Bridgewater State, Cornell, South Dakota State, and of course- Hampden-Sydney College.

Pi Kappa Alpha recruits quality men who are committed to academic achievement, campus leadership, competitive athletics, and most importantly, those who pride themselves on being gentlemen.  We are seeking men who desire more than the average fraternity experience.  We take a unique approach when establishing a new chapter.  The Fraternity recruits its members on a recommendation basis.  Recommendations come from several sources, including: alumni, coaches, faculty and staff, various student organizations, their leaders, and of course, the sorority women from nearby institutions. Recommended men then meet two to three times with Pi Kappa Alpha Expansion Consultants. Through these meetings the two Consultants develop the new colony here at HSC.
